Overview

User Account Control is a new security component in Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. It enables users to perform common tasks as non-administrators, and as administrators without having to switch users, log off, or use Run As.

Use the following procedure to disable UAC:

1. Open User Accounts in Control Panel.
2. In the User Accounts window, click User Accounts.
3. Click on Turn user account control on or off.
4. Uncheck Use user account control (UAC) to protect your computer and click OK.
5. Click Restart Now to apply the change right away, or click Restart Later and close the User Accounts tasks window.
